Faith 3/21/2023

Over the Holidays this year, I posted quite a bit of content about Hope and Joy.  There was a reason that I was drawn to those, and felt led to post so much about it; I needed it, and I was pretty certain that I wasn’t the only one!  The topic that I have been drawn to over the last few days is one that I also need, “faith.”  I am guessing that I am not the only one who struggles at times with this topic as well.
I have become very aware of the fact that faith is part of what it takes when “stepping into the uncomfortable.” By its very definition, uncomfortable indicates that a person has either pain or lack of ease, and is not feeling relaxed, so why would I choose to knowingly do that? Because, that is the direction that I am finding myself being led!
I have spent the last four decades of my life working in different versions of the same field.  Between my education, experience, and continued professional development, I had a fairly good level of comfort with my knowledge and expertise in my career.  Suddenly, I have found myself beginning a new business, doing something that I find highly satisfying and interesting, but with a knowledge level that is just short of novice.  Not EVER a place that I find comfortable; and yet here I am.  When I start questioning myself and whether I should just go back to what I know, I seem to have the same answer, “No, hold your course, I have new plans for you!”
While new plans are exciting, it is also pretty disconcerting.  This morning, the devotional I was reading was talking about the boy with the five loaves and two fish in the Bible story of Jesus feeding the 5000.  I realized that I feel a lot like I imagine that kid must have felt; wondering what on earth can be accomplished with so little, when so much is needed.  After recently watching this story portrayed on, “The Chosen,” one of my favorite depictions of the life of Jesus, I was struck by the sheer volume of people fed from those few loaves and fish!
I am still in the process of seeing what is going to happen with my life and business.  I feel like my situation seems as overwhelming as the 5000 hungry people must have felt to Jesus’ disciples when they were trying to figure out what to do.  I realize though that I need the same thing that the boy and the disciples needed, faith to bring what little I have, to see what is done with it, as well as taking the steps that I’m being given to take.  Faith will most likely be the topic that I work on sharing over the next few days or weeks.  Just like hope and joy were needed during the holiday season, I feel the need to focus on more faith at this time!
